When you choose our plan, you can rest assured you're getting excellent cover that has a comprehensive amount of features and benefits.

Cover details

Over 50s Fixed Life Insurance at a glance

  • Premiums from £5 to £75 a month, depending on your age. Choose a premium you can afford to give a cash sum that meets your needs.
  • Full cover payable after just one year. If you pass away within the first year, we will refund any premiums paid. However, if you die as a result of an accident then full cover will be paid.
  • Guaranteed acceptance with no medical for UK residents aged 50-80. However, it’s important to note that there may be other life insurance products available, which are more suitable and affordable if you are happy to answer health and medical questions.
  • Your premiums won’t go up once you’ve taken out Over 50s Fixed Life Insurance.
  • Your cover will continue for the rest of your life, even though you stop paying premiums at age 90.
  • Flexibility to reduce your premiums if you’ve had your plan for a year and your circumstances have changed you have the option to reduce your premiums. The minimum premium applies.
  • You can have more than one Over 50s plan with us, so long as the total cash sum value across all Legal & General Over 50s Life Insurance plans doesn’t exceed £10,000. It’s important to note that if you already have an existing plan taken out on or before 25 November 2017 please refer to your Policy Terms & Conditions for your total sum assured value.

Things you need to know

  • Depending on how long you live, total premiums paid may be greater than the cash sum payable on death.
  • This is not a savings or investment product and has no cash value unless a valid claim is made.
  • If you stop paying premiums when due, your plan will be cancelled and you won't get anything back.
  • The cash sum is fixed, so inflation will reduce it's buying power in the future.
  • Over 50s Fixed Life Insurance is not designed to meet the full costs of a funeral, and does not guarantee to do so.
  • If you choose to reduce your premiums, your cash sum will also be reduced.

Existing customers receive 10% extra cover plus a £75 gift card after taking out our Over 50s Fixed Life Insurance. Please read the following terms and conditions before you apply.

  • This offer is only available to customers who take out Legal & General Over 50s Fixed Life Insurance by post or via the telephone.
  • You will be eligible for your gift card six months after your policy start date, provided you haven’t cancelled your policy and your payments are fully up to date. A letter or email will be sent to you with details of how to redeem your gift card, please allow up to 60 days for delivery of this communication. Once you have chosen your gift card it cannot be changed.
  • This offer is not available to Cashback customers. Cashback customers are customers who receive a cash sum when they buy Legal & General Over 50s Life Insurance via a Cashback website.
  • This offer is only available if you apply directly to Legal & General. If you apply via a Financial Adviser, or through any other website that isn’t www.legalandgeneral.com, such as a comparison site, you will not be eligible for this offer.
  • If you have previously held and cancelled Legal & General Over 50s Life Insurance within the last 18 months, you will not be eligible for this offer.
