What is Islamic investing?
An approach that aims to grow your money while only making investments that comply with the principles of the Islamic faith and Shariah Law. For example, investments in alcohol, pork products and interest-bearing securities will be avoided.
How does it work?
The Islamic Lifestyle Option
A ready-made lifestyle solution which automatically changes how your retirement savings are invested as you approach retirement.
This helps to provide peace of mind knowing that your savings are invested in line with Shariah principles, and that you don’t have to consider actively changing your funds.
This lifestyle option invests in underlying funds that are managed by HSBC. Legal & General will adjust the allocation of assets in preparation for your retirement, depending on how far you are from your target retirement age.

It's important to note that the value of investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you paid in.
We’d recommend seeking financial advice before you make any changes.
Please note HSBC are responsible for interpretations of Islamic law and ensuring the underlying external funds follow Shariah principles. HSBC have a Shariah Committee, consisting of Islamic scholars, who oversee this and provide regular certification. Legal & General do not make any claims of compliance with Shariah principles beyond those made by HSBC.
Shariah investing typically means you’ve a smaller basket of investments available compared to other funds. To ensure you’re comfortable with this approach and any associated risks, please refer to the fund factsheets.
